Hello, and welcome.

If you have found your way here, chances are cancer has touched your life—whether it is your own diagnosis or someone you love.
I’m sorry you’re here, but I’m glad we’ve found each other.
I’ve had cancer. Twice. I won’t tell you it’s easy, because it isn’t. There are days filled with fear, uncertainty, hospital appointments, scans, and endless waiting. There are days when you simply won’t want to get out of bed and at times you are exhausted before breakfast.
But there have also been family dinners, mini holidays, cups of tea with friends, silly jokes, laughter that caught me by surprise, and moments that reminded me that cancer is something I have—not who I am.
That’s why I called this blog Still Me.
Before we go any further, there’s something I want you to know.
I’m not a doctor. I’m not a nurse. I’m not a medical expert. Nor am I a nutritionist.
I’m not here to tell you which treatment to have, what to eat, or what decisions to make. Those conversations belong between you and your medical team.
Every person’s experience with cancer is different. What helped me may not help you, and that’s okay.
What I can offer is my story.
The good days.
The difficult days.
The funny moments that somehow appeared in the middle of the hard ones.
The poems I wrote when laughter felt like the best medicine, I could prescribe myself.
The little getaways with family and friends that reminded me there was still so much life to be lived.
If something I write helps even one woman feel a little less alone…
If one poem brings a smile during a difficult week…
If one story helps make this path feel just a little lighter…
…then Still Me will have done exactly what I hoped it would.
My stories are about family, faith, laughter, resilience… and everything in between.

Because even when life changes you, some parts of you remain wonderfully unchanged.

So, make yourself a cup of tea, settle in, and stay for a while.
We’ll be honest here.
We’ll laugh whenever we can.
We’ll probably cry now and then too.
Most of all, we’ll remind each other that no matter what life throws at us, we’re still ourselves.
We’re still us.
Welcome to Still Me.

Dear Rashmi…this came straight from the heart, and as someone who has also heard those terrifying words…“it is cancer” I totally felt every bit of it. In that one moment, ur whole life flashes before u…not only the past, but everything u still hope to be there for- ur children, their milestones, their weddings, grandchildren, all of it.

And the truth is, nobody can fully understand what goes on inside u- not ur spouse, child, parent, friend, or anyone else-unless they have lived through it themselves. Even after the cancer is gone, something inside u is never quite the same… I am in remission but think about it every single day!

Thank u for putting into words what so many of us struggle to explain. Cancer may become part of our story, but it is never the whole of who we are. We are still us. Still me. ❤️

Rashmi, you have expressed yourself in a real and beautiful way and though I haven’t been through what you have, I could feel the emotion behind your words. It is incredible that you are sharing your story and I am sorry you have had to go through this. Thinking of you and sending you hugs and prayers for a very speedy recovery.

I’ve had cancer. And I feel that sometimes the experiences that weigh most heavily on our hearts are also the ones that open our eyes the widest. We would never choose them, but they can deepen our appreciation of life, relationships, and the small moments we might otherwise have overlooked.

I really enjoyed reading this. It feels warm, honest, and very genuine, and makes it so engaging. I’m looking forward to Fridays already.
